Admissions Policy

Holy Trinity Diocesan High School is a coeducational college preparatory school with a current enrollment of approximately 1200 students.  Holy Trinity's challenging curriculum includes Regents, Honors, Advanced Placement and college courses affiliated with St. John's University, Molloy College and LIU Post.  College courses and the successful completion of Advanced Placement courses and follow-up exams allow students to obtain college credits.  Many Trinity students graduate after earning a semester of more of college credits.

Admissions to Holy Trinity Diocesan High School is based on the following criteria:
  1. Results of the Catholic High School Entrance Exam* (Holy Trinity CHSEE #690)
  2. Review of seventh and eighth grade report cards*
* Special consideration is given to students who graduate from Catholic grammar schools.

In addition to the yearly admission of freshmen, Holy Trinity allows International students and current high school students to transfer into Holy Trinity (if space and scheduling permits).  To receive consideration for admission into Holy Trinity as a transfer or international student, the student and family must:
  1. Submit the student's most recent report card as well as a transcript from the high school(s) that the student has attended.  The transcript should include:
    • Grades for all classes taken
    • School attendance
  2. Submit results of all standardized tests (including Regents exams) taken by the student.
  3. Be interviewed by the Director of Admissions
  4. International students must show proficiency in the English language.  Upon acceptance, Holy Trinity will issue the I-20 form to allow the student to receive their visa.

Admission to Holy Trinity Diocesan High School is a privilege.  This privilege may be revoked if a student fails to maintain acceptable academic standards in eighth grade of whose conduct is incompatible with the mission of our school.

Parents of students are denied admission may appeal the decision.

  • Students who received notices that they were not accepted are invited to come to the school with their parents to appeal the decision.
  • These families are asked to bring documentation and other material (more recent report cards, etc.) to the appeal.
  • Each appeal will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by an administrator and/or guidance counselor under the direction of the Director of Admissions.
