Holy Trinity’s motto is How High School Should Be. What does that mean to you?
Holy Trinity offers so many experiences and that's why I love it. At the LIGHTs Lock-In, I got to spend a night in the school with classmates and the campus ministry team. How many people get to say they stayed up all night in their school, playing games and having fun? [Also,] I got to go to Disney with the Varsity Volleyball team. Lastly, I’m going to see the 45th Presidential Inauguration. I just feel like Holy Trinity offers [its students] so much.
What is your favorite class this year? Why do you enjoy it?
My favorite class this year (and every year) has been Art! This year, I’m in Advanced Studio and I just love seeing how far my artwork has come since freshman year.
Has there been a teacher/coach/counselor/administrator at Holy Trinity who has positively influenced you? Please explain:
I don’t think I would be able to choose just one. All three of the Art teachers at HT have influenced me so much. I had Mrs. Losito freshman year and again this year; she has really taught me the fundamentals of art. Then during sophomore and junior year, I had Mrs. Kelshaw; I feel like she truly pushed me to challenge myself and really helped me when I struggled. Lastly, I have Mr. Ware this year in Architecture; he is helping me learn how to add art into what I want to do in life, which is being an architect. All three teachers have shaped me into the artist I am today and I could not reiterate enough how great the Art department is at Holy Trinity.
What has been a “highlight” of your time at Holy Trinity? Please describe a moment that you enjoyed and/or made you proud:
I would say that my most proud moment was the time I won the Help-A-Family button design contest [during] my sophomore year. It was really cool to see people wearing the button that I designed all around school. It was so nice to have my teachers and friends complimenting my artwork and it was for a great cause!
To what colleges are you applying? What is your intended major?
My intended major is Architecture. I have applied to NYIT, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Marywood University, Catholic University of America, Pratt Institute, and Wentworth Institute of Technology.
What will you miss the most about Holy Trinity?
What I will miss most about Holy Trinity are the friendly faces. Whether it was stopping by Campus Ministry [or] Guidance, or seeing your teachers and classmates, everyone at HT is just so willing to help you. There is always someone who could put a smile on your face when you’re having a bad day.
Do you have any advice for incoming Holy Trinity students?
Don’t be too shy or too afraid to try something. I will admit – I went to clubs that I did not like and [ended up not going] back…but that’s better than never knowing if I would like it. For as many things at Trinity that were not for me, there were twice as many things that were. Everyone at Holy Trinity is so welcoming, so don’t be afraid to try something new.
