EUCHARIST (Mass Schedule, Liturgical Minister Opportunities)

The Eucharist is the source and summit of Holy Trinity Diocesan High School and sits at the heart of our school community in more ways than one.  Our tabernacle, where the Blessed Sacrament is perpetally reserved, rests at the physical center of our school building serving as a constant reminder that Jesus Christ is the reason Hoy Trinity Diocesan High School exists and thrives.  The Eucharist is central to our school day as Mass is celebrated everyday in our chapel by our school Chaplain.  All members of the Holy Trinity community including students, faculty and staff, parents, and community familly members are always welcome.  Sports teams and clubs take advantage of our afternoon daily Masses, scheduling a time for their group to gather around the Eucharist to pray for each other and their special intentions.  In addition our Theatre Department gathers for a "Cast Mass" before every production in thanksgiving for their gifts and talents and for success of the show.

Special school wide Masses occur throughout the year including the Mass of the Holy Spirit of "Mass on the Grass" held on the football field during our first week of school, a Thanksgiving Liturgy, Christmas Liturgy and Ash Wednesday Liturgy.

Students are encouraged to take a leadership role within the celebration of our liturgies through lecturing, serving, Eucharistic ministering, and music ministry.  Students of any grade level can participate in our lecturing program which provides students with formation on how to break open the word of our Lord, prayerfully prepare their assigned readings, and present it articulately at the celebration of the Eucrist.  Senior students who have exhibited a deep love and understanding for the Eucharist throughout their time at Holy Trinity have the opportunity to serve as a Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.  Students apply in their junior year, are trained by the diocese, and serve during their senior year at all school liturgies.

Music Ministry is an extracurricular activity, open to all students who desire to use their musical gifts for the glory of God.  All singers and instrumentalists are welcome and will have many opportunities to prayerfully share their talents in a liturgical setting.  Students who participate are formed in the understanding that their music ministry is not a performance, but a prayer that encourages the movement of the Holy Spirit and aids in the spiritual experience of Mass for the congregants.

MORNING PRAYER
Outside of the celebration and prayer of the Eucharist, each morning during our homeroom periods, the school joins in prayer led by our Chaplain, Campus Minsers and/or upperclassman students.  These prayers focus on the liturgical calendar, happenings of our school community and our Virtues of the Month.  This prayer allows for a quieting heart and a reminder to all persons in the building to place themselves and their day in the trusting hands of God.

SPECIAL MASSES (Holidays, Holy Days, Communion Breakfasts)
Aside from our daily and school wide liturgies that occur during school hours, there are many other times throughout the course of our school year when our community gathers for the Eucharist.  These include all of our Sunday Communion Breakfasts (i.e. Freshman Welcome, Women's, Father's, Sports Awards, etc.),  Mass for the Deceased (where all past alumni, faculty and staff who have returned to out Lord are honored and remembered), and other special liturgies which are planned in accordance with our community events (i.e. Memorial Masses, Anniversary Liturgies, etc.)

RECONCILIATION SERVICES
At Holy Trinity Diocesan High School it is important that each student has the opportunity to fully participate in the Sacramental offerings of the Church.  In preparation for the two most important feasts in the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar, students participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation during our Advent and Lenten Reconciliation Services.  In the days before each service, students are prepared for the celebration of the Sacrament and prayerfully review an examination of conscious.  Although the Sacrament of Reconciliation is emphasized during these liturgical seasons.  It is available throughout the school year - at any time - upon request through our chaplain in the Campus Ministry office.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
We are aware that some students who join the Holy Trinity community may not have completed their sacraments.  Any student who wishes to prepare for Baptism, First Holy Communion or Confirmation can do so with our Chaplain.  For more information, please call the Campus Ministry office at 516-433-2900 x140.
