Driver Education

Holy Trinity Driver Education is a comprehensive program that fosters the mastery of basic driving skills and encourages students to become responsible members of the driving community. Each week, students are taught in the car and in the classroom by qualified and experienced teachers who emphasize that safe driving is a process of lifelong learning.

As of April 9, we have received applications for all 96 spots in our summer program.   We have begun a wait list. Applications and payment  for wait-listed students are being accepted. No checks will be cashed until a wait-listed student is accepted.

Holy Trinity's summer Driver Education course begins on  Monday, July 1, 2019 and concludes on August 15.  Each student must attend  three hours per day for 16 days and must choose  either the White Schedule or the Green Schedule (see application). Each student who successfully completes the course will be issued an MV285 “Certificate of Completion” which makes him or her eligible for a full “Class D license” at age seventeen and a reduction in automobile insurance premiums. 


 Students are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis according to the date your application/deposit is received. 

Driving classes (with four students in the car) are held at

                                         7:00 AM     8:30 AM    10:00 AM    11:30 AM                                                                  
 Theory/lecture classes are held at 8:30 and 10:00 AM.

 Please note that driving and theory classes will be held each day.    The “weeks off” are intended for practice of the skills taught in previous classes.  Students who complete the course should be more than ready to pass the NY State Road Test.

 How to Apply:

  • You must be at least 16 years of age by July 1 (White schedule) or July 8 (Green Schedule).
  • Complete the entire application (click link above)  
  • Indicate the time you wish to drive

                            7 AM........8:30 AM.........10 AM........11:30 AM

  • Indicate the time you want for lecture         8:30 AM........10 AM
  • Indicate other students you may wish to carpool with (there are 4 students in each car).
  • Return the application along with the total fee for the course is $575 made payable to “Holy Trinity High School.”
  • If a student is scheduled for classes a $50 fee will be charged for any withdrawal request made after June 10, 2019. No tuition refund will be authorized after June 20, 2019.

As soon as a student is registered a confirmation will be sent by email and your cancelled check will serve as a receipt of your payment.  Your schedule will be posted on our website   (see DRIVER ED under STUDENT LIFE) BY  May 20, 2019.  Please note that you must earn your “Certificate of Completion.”  Absences or your failure to fulfill class requirements (homework assignments, readings, etc.) may result in a failing grade.

Welcome to All Spring 2019 Driver Ed Students!

Where do I go for the classes?
All students are dropped off and picked up at Holy Trinity Diocesan High School at the VISITOR’S ENTRANCE ON CHERRY LANE.  Lecture classes will be held in Room 101 (signs will be posted).  Students will meet their driving Instructors on the first day of class at the VISITOR’S ENTRANCE and at the Driver Ed car thereafter.  We are not permitted to pick up or drop off students at their home or any other location other than the school.

What do I need to bring to class?
A notebook, a pen or pencil, and your learner’s permit.

What about absences?
By Holy Trinity regulations, a student is allowed to make-up no more than 3 absences in either car or lecture class. All absences must be made up. It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements with, and obtain prior approval from, the regular driving and/or lecture instructor to proceed with any make-up classes  There are no “excused” absences. Absences due to illness, bereavement, SATs, ACTs (and other tests), are all still considered absences and must be made up.

How do I know if a class is cancelled due to bad weather?
In the case of inclement weather, please visit our website to check for cancellations (if inclement weather develops during the day check before you set out for class.). If school is canceled, Driver Education will also be canceled. Go to and you can also view school closings on Channel 12 news or call 433-4852.

February 18-23, April 18-27, May 27, 30.  Make up days for weather related cancellations may be scheduled in May or June.
