
The National Art Honor Society gives recognition to students who have demonstrated outstanding performances in the study of the Visual Arts. Its purpose is to assist student members to attain their highest potential in all forms of Arts, and to raise awareness of Art Education throughout the school and community. To be eligible for membership, a student must:
- Have a 90% or higher average in all Visual Art classes.
- Have a cumulative average of 85% or higher in all subjects. c.
- Have taken at least 3 full credits within the Visual Art curriculum.
- Submit all application materials within the designed time period.
- Demonstrate community service in the area of Art.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in continuing the study of Art.
- Be recommended by prior Art teachers based on evidence of independent study and consistent class participation.
BY-LAWS:
- To remain a member in good standing, a member must complete 10 service credits in the Visual Arts each year.
- Attendance is required at meetings to maintain membership and privileges.
- No more than 2 absences with chapter sponsor permission per year.
- All members must participate in ALL of our projects, activities and fundraiser's.
- The NAHS officers, attendance is also required at any executive meetings called outside of the regular schedule meetings.
- To graduate with NAHS honors and earn the right to wear a cord at graduation, a member must remain in good standing until the graduation date.
- Members must retain a 90% average or higher in all Visual Art classes.
- Members must have an 85% or higher in all other academic subjects.
- Members may remain active during such time when there are no Visuals Arts on their class schedules as long as they fulfill all of the other requirements each year.
- In the event of an infraction of rules, a review by the officers and sponsors will be conducted. If the individual in question is an officer, he/she will not participate in the decision-making process. This applies to all community laws as well as school and chapter rules.
