Fun Fact:
Did you know that there is a Saint Corona, and that she is, in fact, the Patron Saint of plagues, epidemics and pandemics? Read her amazing story below.
Challenge:
In light of the news of our local Catholic Churches begin closed for public Masses during this difficult time - even as we approach Holy Week and Easter (the holiest season of our Christian year) - we recall stories like the one here below, of Saint Corona herself. She is one of the countless Christians throughout history whose blood acted as a seed for the growth of our church; by her Christ-like example of charity for others over her own comfort and self-preservation, others came to know the love of God present in their lives.
While most of us are being merely inconvenienced through restaurant curfews and home work/studies - our brothers and sisters throughout the world are going without the Grace of the Sacraments, and some are dying without the company and consolation of their families due to quarantines. These times should stir in us the noble Christian response of the martyrs - to rise up in prayer and act bravely on behalf of those among us who are vulnerable and weak. But as we remain "socially distanced, " what is there to be done? So glad you asked!
The Holy Trinity Campus Ministry Department is starting a prayer chain which we hope will go as VIRAL as the Coronavirus has! We will be praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet (link below) at 3pm each afternoon, from our homes or wherever we are. Set your phone alarm to remind you! Tell your friends and share on social media. Pray with your families for world leaders making big decisions, business owners, nurses and doctors still working to administer treatments, those performing tests and looking for a cure, those quarantined in nursing homes, those dying alone, and the souls of the whole world. Please pass this email along and post on social media under the hashtag #PrayerSpreadsToo.
All the information you’ll need to know about the Divine Mercy Chaplet is here in video form. And if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’ll be praying with you!
