** TITAN AWARD: Dominique Baldino (Senior Guard)

“Dom”, a multi-sport TITAN is a spirited athlete who demonstrated all of the values expected of a TITAN AWARD recipient. Her performance in the 2020 Senior Game against St. Dominick was a highlight film of offensive prowess and defensive determination.

** MVP: Kasi Samuda (Freshman Forward)

Kasi had a remarkable freshman year, leading the team in both scoring and rebounding. She also demonstrated her athleticism by successfully defending both tall and quick designated opponents. Kasi is a talented multi-sport athlete.

** COACHES AWARD: Maggie Long (Sophomore Guard/Forward)

Maggie, our team captain, was a powerful and effective leader in every way. In addition to demonstrating great determination in recovering from an early season injury and illness, she accepted the role of being the Titan’s POINT GUARD rather than playing her natural position as a SWING Player. She led the team in assists, outside shooting, and always was a significant contributor in scoring, rebounding, and defensively. Maggie is a multi-sport Titan athlete who recently was selected as one of the top 100 female lacrosse player on Long Island.

** MOST IMPROVED: Katrina Samuda (Sophomore Forward)

Katrina, despite having just begun playing basketball two years ago, Katrina has become a defensive and rebounding presence with her height, length, and quickness. She demonstrated her determination in the championship game of the Red Devil Tournament when she limited a multi-talented, high-scoring forward to only 2 points in the second half.

** ROOKIE: Kirina Azemar (Freshman Guard)

Kirina, an explosive offensive player, played a significant role in many of the team’s 14 win season. As she expands her repertoire of skills and defensive prowess, Kirina is destined to be an integral part of the ever improving TITAN Basketball program.

** BEST DEFENDER: Alex Fuhrer (Junior Guard)

Alex, the 2019 recipient of the team’s Most Improved Player award, expanded her credentials by accepting the challenge of defending the top scorer of most of our opponents, a role she successfully accepted. Her quickness and speed were exceeded only by her consistent focus and hard-work.

Co - MVP and Titan Award- Mike Sixsmith

Mike is a 3 year varsity starter and two year captain. He scored more than 1,400 points in his career at Holy Trinity and was a 3 year NSCHSAA all league player. He was named to the All Long Island teams by Newsday and Longislandbasketball.com in both his junior and senior years. He was also named 2^nd team All NY State in both his junior and senior seasons. He was the leading scorer and rebounder on the 2019 NSCHSAA championship Titans team. Quiet and unassuming off the court, Mike was the ultimate competitor on it. He always played with supreme toughness and selflessness and was loved and respected by his teammates and coaches. We always knew we had a chance to win because we had Mike. Not only would score the ball at a very high rate but was always willing to do the dirty work such as defend, rebound and pass, which was vital to winning and he did it while playing with an ankle injury all season. It is because of all of these reasons that Mike receives the ultimate honor of the Titan Award in addition to being our CO-MVP.

CO MVP - TJ Long

TJ was our leading scorer at 23ppg and rebounder at 6.4 rpg and shot 51% FG 44% 3FG. He was also a NSCHSAA All League player, Newsday and longislandbasketball.com All Long Island and 4^th team all NY State. In addition to being our leading scorer and the best shooter in NY State, TJ was always willing to do the little things to help us win. He often guarded the other team’s leading scorer and was always willing to rebound among bigger players. Similar to Mike in his quiet and unassuming personality he was also a fierce competitor when he stepped between the lines. After transferring to Holy Trinity in his junior year, TJ fit in well with the teams culture by being willing to outwork anybody. He immediately was loved by his teammates and coaches and became a Titan quickly.

Coaches Award - Nick Margetson

One of the great pleasures of coaching at Holy Trinity is watching players grow from boys to young men in their four years. Nick Margetson is the epitome of that. He grew from a quiet freshman to a vocal leader his senior year. Nick was always a catalyst in practice on what was a talented but quiet team. During his junior season Nick was always ready when his number was called and came off the bench to provide a huge spark in multiple big victories on the way to a 2019 NSCHSA Championship. As a senior Nick rarely came off the court as he was a coach on the floor point guard. Nick was loved and respected by his teammates and coaches and it was an honor to coach him and watch him grow into the outstanding young man he is.

COACHES AWARD – ALFONSO MARTINEZ, FOR HIS DEDICATION TO THE TEAM IN MAKING MOST PRACTICES AND MATCHES. HE ALWAYS COMMUNICATED WITH HIS COACHES WHEN HE WAS OUT OF THE COUNTRY AND IN GENERAL IN KEEPING WITH THE SCHEDULE. HE LISTENED TO INSTRUCTION AND GAVE HIS FULL SELF IN PARTICIPATION.

TITAN AWARD – EDDIE NOBLE, CAPTAIN OF THE TEAM, FULL COOPERATION WITH HIS COACHES. EVERY MATCH HE CAME TO BOWL AND GIVE HIS FULL EFFORT. HE ENCOURAGED HIS FELLOW TEAMMATES TO DO THEIR BEST AND GUIDED THEM DURING MATCHES.QUALIFIED FOR ALL LEAGUE TOURNAMENT.

Rookie of the Year goes to an outstanding freshman that has an incredible work ethic to match his talent. His times continued to drop in the 55m and the 200m. I look forward to having him for the next three years, Julien Crandall

Most Improved is presented to a young man who is a junior and a Team Captain. He worked incredibly hard to shave off over 35 seconds in his 1600m, not an easy task. He is a team leader and dedicated athlete, Anshul Suryavanshi.

Coaches Award goes to another junior and Team Captain. When he has a goal, he puts in 110%. He works not only for himself but also for the team. He set out to PR in the 600m and that’s just what he did, Daniel Barberio.

Team MVP is also a team captain. He earned the awards All-League 4x200m 1st Pl, CHSAA All-State 4x200m 3rd Pl, NYS Federation 6th Pl, 4x200m and New Balance National Qualifier. The only thing bigger then his talent is his love for the sport and his team. He makes us a better team, Bryce Ridley.

Track MVP, and team captain is well known not only at Holy Trinity but also all over Long Island for his talent. I have been lucky enough to coach him for 8 seasons over the last 4 years. He has earned the honors of All-League and NSCHSAA Champ in 55m, 300m and 4x200m Relay. He was voted MVP of the NSCHSAA Meet and as one of the top Track and Field athletes on Long Island. CHSAA-All State, 3rd Pl 300m, 6th Pl NYS Federation Meet and New Balance National Indoor qualifier in the 200m and 4x2. He lives and breaths track and field, his competitive edge and desire for greatness will lead him to achieve all his future goals at Adelphi University, Christopher Holt.

Titan Award, is presented to a young man who exemplifies what a Titan is on and off the track. As a team captain he encourages his teammates and mentors the younger athletes. Committed, intelligent, hardworking, driven and talented describe him as a student-athlete and leader. He is first to offer a kind word to a fellow teammate and inspire them to work harder. I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to coach this incredible young man. He earned the honors All-League 4x200m, NSCHSAA league meet., CHSAA All-State 4x200 3rd Pl,NYS Federation Meet 4x200m 6th Pl and New Balance National Indoor qualifier. He will continue his education at the University at Buffalo, Aaron Essien.

Titan Award - Genesis Miller

This young lady is the definition of what the Titan Award stand for. She is an excellent student-athlete involved in many academic clubs and societies, a leader who leads by example, and an individual who represents Holy Trinity well both on the track and off. She is a girl the other girls on the team look up to, and can count on to be there for them. On top of being a captain and excellent leader, she was an integral part of our team and relays. Taking many seconds off her 400m time and improving her 200 and 300m races just as much, earning All League status, and helping her 4x200m relay score and place at our Intersectional Championship meet in February, she showed herself, and the team, what can happen when you dedicate yourself to something and work hard towards your goals. Even in some of our most devastating moments this season and into the post season, she always managed to keep her composure and be the captain and leader the team needed to get through the tough times. I’ve had the pleasure of coaching and knowing Genesis these past 4 years and am incredibly proud of the young lady she has grown into. I wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors at Stony Brook University.

Team MVP - Tori Chorzepa

Tori is that athlete that a coach can count on to do anything needed, no matter what, and is still never satisfied with her performance, thinking she could’ve somehow done better. Whether it was a sprint event, a mid-distance event, or a field event, I could count on her to step in where needed, and do it well, very well. Being on of our fastest girls at various events/distances, it was a no brainer that she was our team’s MVP. That coupled with her amazing attitude and leadership skills only made her more valuable and important to our team. I am grateful to have coached her these last three years, and cannot wait to see what her senior year hold.

Track MVP - Paige Gibbs

Paige is a girl who has grown, and is still continuing to develop, into an amazing athlete and runner. Over the last two years, I saw the potential in her and tried everything to get her to see it in herself, finally it happened. Once Paige committed herself to the team and bettering herself on the track and in the long jump, it was like a switch had been turned on, and that athlete Ive known was in her since freshman year had emerged to the surface. She stepped up anchoring our top relays this year, filling some very big shoes, and did so naturally. She helped our 4x400 and 4x200m relays both take off a lot of time, and e=earned All League status. She is poised to do very big things next winter and spring season, and I cannot wait to get back on the track and runway with her!

Most Improved Track - Sophia Lubas

Sophia is the perfect example of what can happen when you decide to work hard to improve at your sport/event. Sophia has run for me the past 3 years, and although has improved gradually over the years, this season stood out tremendously! She took off over 1.5 seconds in her 55m dash time, which is phenomenal, and over 2 seconds in her 300m time this season, which was already 2 seconds faster than her PR from las year. She PR’e in both events this season. I did have many girls improve a lot this season, and had to crunch the numbers to figure out exactly how much everyone improved, not a bad problem to have, that’s for sure. On top of the numerical improvements standing out, her attitude towards the team and sport also improved and her dedication to the team was extremely evident.

Most Improved Field - Glendys Reyes

Glendys was hands down our most improved field athlete this season, improving her shot put by over 7 feet. More astonishingly, she was new to the event, and track in general. Her first meet went well, and after that she’s stayed steady at about 13 feet for her shot put throws, by League Champs she threw 20’10”! She put in the work in the circle, on the track, and in the weight room, and the end result was a huge improvement. The next few seasons and years with should should be very exciting.

Coaches Awards (2) - Kayla Paz & Andrea Uba

Two girls on the track team stood out as huge assets to our team this past season, each in their own way, making them the girls’ track coaches award winners.
Kayla Paz showed natural leadership skills in a very big way this past season. We had a lot of new girls who all had an interest in throwing and she stepped up big and helped teach them and motivate them daily to learn and improve, all while improving her own throws by over 2 feet! Her natural leadership became evident very quickly and we decided to name her a captain as she was already playing the part without the title. We could all count on Kayla to do what needed to be done, to help rally the girls morale when they had a challenging day, and to be an extension of the coaching staff. I couldn’t be more proud of the young woman and athlete Kayla has grown into.

Another young lady who led by example day in and day out, beginning in preseason was Andrea. Being new to the school this year as a transfer, I could tell instantly she loved track by her actions and attitude. As the season progressed, she grew closer to the girls on the team and not only became part of the track family, but was certainly one of the girls we could always count on to be there and to do the right thing when no one was looking as well as to hold the other girls accountable. She holds herself to a very high standard and expects a lot of herself, as well as the team. She pushes every workout, which not only benefits her, but the entire team as it helps build that healthy competition that is needed at practice to foster speed improvement. We are lucky to have her for a few more season before she graduates, and cannot wait to see what she accomplishes.

Rookie of the Year - Colleen Chojnacki

Every now and again, a new athlete shows up and you know they are going to be special. Colleen was that girl this season. At our very first meet she stepped onto the track and ran some phenomenal times, and each race was somehow better than the previous. Our next meet she took off over 10 seconds from her 1000m, improved on her 800m and solidified her place as one of our top and most versatile runners on the team. As the season went on, she kept improving, learning how to run the mid-distance races so she wouldn’t burn out at the end, or have too much energy left either. As she began to understand pacing and its importance in a race, she only got faster. Multiple coaches from other schools asked about her, and saw the very same special thing we did in her. Colleen is a phenomenal athlete and has the work ethic to make her shine. The next 3 years should prove to be something very special to watch as she keeps getting faster and learning more and more about track racing.

MVP - One of the 2019-2020 season's captains, has shown numerous ways of why she deserves this year's MVP award. Throughout the changes and obstacles experienced, she has managed to stay consistent and determined. She has been the connection, the source, and the example leading her teammates around her. She takes pride in the sport we all share a love for and has worked so hard to help this team strive for everything they have accomplished and more. This MVP award represents the blood, sweat and tears put into this sport, the dedication to ride through it all and the laugh we constantly need reminding us why we are here in the first place. Congratulations to this years Most Valuable Player- Alexa Marinez!

Coaches Award- This award goes to someone who always has a smile on her face but could also put a smile on anyone else's face at any given time. Her silly, spirited personality is infectious and always had us laughing. Her commitment and attitude exceeded our expectations of what a cheerleader at Holy Trinity should look like and her passion for cheerleading is profound. Whether at a practice, a game, or competition she was ALWAYS giving 110% effort. Having a "player" that you can rely on, that is fool proof is a coaches dream and this is exactly what she was! Congratulations to Corinne- Alexa Nelson on achieving this years Coaches Award!

Titan Award - This years Titan Award goes to someone whose dedication and loyalty to the team is unmatched. Not only is she dedicated to the team but she is involved in many other school clubs and activities, always exuding school spirit. Her perseverance and hustle was never a question and on top of that excels in her studies. When a challenge was thrown her way she never gave up.. it was always "Ok lets go, lets try again." In the beginning of the season she stepped up out of her comfort zone and rose to a challenge we faced when we needed another team captain. The team voted for her and she DID NOT disappoint. She showed up to every practice with a positive attitude and ready to work mentality. While presenting great leadership skills as a senior captain, she was also a wonderful role model for our team. Courtney, your bright light and character will be truly missed and we know only great things are ahead for you and your future. Congratulations Courtney Banks, we proudly present you with the Titan Award!

Most Improved - Our Most Improved award this year goes to someone who started on our team as an alternate. Although the circumstances, she attended EVERY practice, tumbling clinic, game, competition, you name it. When we lost a couple of girls due to injuries she was asked to step up last minute and learn an entire competition routine in less than a week. She has been thrown in every position, asked to learn new choreography and did not miss a beat. We are so impressed in the amount you have accomplished, and cannot wait to watch you shine in the upcoming seasons you have ahead! Congratulations Gabrielle Urgiles, you are our Most Improved Player!

Titans Award- SR- Brendan Muller- 138

Brendan is the true definition of what it means to be a Holy Trinity Titan. Brendan was a 2-year captain and a 3x All-League wrestler during his time at Holy Trinity. Brendan led by example, brought intensity every day and pushed his teammates to be better. He had a neverending motor and opponents could not keep up with his pace. Brendan accumulated 35 wins this season and won the prestigious Ed Solasky Memorial Tournament at Kellenberg, pinning all 4 of his opponents in the first period. Brendan is the true definition of Titan tough.

Wrestling MVP- SR-Brian Holder- 220

This year’s wrestling MVP goes to senior Brian Holder. Brian accumulated 36 wins this season for the titans while winning the Ed Solasky Memorial Tournament and the Cougar Pride invitational. During the post season, Brian bumped up weight classes to 220 and won the 2020 League tournament. He even won the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler. The 2020 CHSAA State championship was no easy task but Brian’s determination and grit helped him beat his opponent from Xavier high school in triple overtime crowning him a Catholic State Champion. Brian represented Holy Trinity at the public state tournament making it to the placing round after he beat his Section 5 opponent.

Coaches Award- SR- Kenny Kroez- 160

Senior Kenny Kroez was voted this year 2020 coaches award by the wrestling coaching staff. Kenny lead the titans with 37 victories this season. In addition, Kenny was a league finalist and placed 4th at the CHSAA states. Kenny had a goal everyday during practice and that was to get better. He took his younger teammates under his wing to help them improve. Ultimately making the team better as a whole.

Titans Heart Award- SR- Jalen Johnson - 182

Jalen Johnson emerged as one of the top contenders at the 182 pound weight this season. His success on the mat was not an easy path putting in countless hours during the off season. Jalen showed he had the heart of a titan during the cougar pride invitational when he was down points against his opponent from Glen Cove but came back in the third period winning by pin fall. Jalen ended his career by taking 3rd in the catholic states and tallying 36 victories.

Most Improved- SR- Michael Newbery- 145

Senior Michael Newbery is this year most improved wrestler. Michael is a 4 year varsity wrestler and captain for the titans. As a coaching staff we saw much improvement in Michaeltechnique from Junior to Senior years. Michael placed in 2 varsity tournaments and had 10 pins this season. He took 3rd at the Hicksville Holiday tournament beating tough opponent from MacArthur High School.

Green and White Award- SR- Boris Paul- 132

This year Boris Paul was awarded the Green and White award for showing the most team spirit. A first year wrestler Boris never missed a practice and worked hard to get better each day. Boris was a great teammate that showed great sportsmanship and Titan Pride.

Rookie of the year- Freshman- Dylan Durand

This season was Dylan’s first year ever stepping on the mat and he was a varsity starter at 113 for Holy Trinity. While most first year wrestlers start on JV, Dylan was instantly thrown into action at the varsity level. Dylan had an epic win in overtime against a tough competitor of Canisius in Buffalo and even took home a medal at the Cougar Pride invitational. Dylan shows a lot of potential and we are excited as a coaching staff to see what the future holds for him.

Outstanding Junior - Lacey Eberhart

Our Outstanding Junior Award is given to Lacey Eberhart. Lacey has been a Titanette for 2 years now and always shows up to every practice ready to work hard. This year Lacey was the Varsity Kickline Junior Captain. We have seen her grow vastly as an individual and as a team member, especially this year as a captain. She is always sharing her positivity and keeps the team connected. Her leadership abilities are outstanding and we look forward to having her on our team as a Titanette for her final year at Holy Trinity. We are extremely proud of Lacey’s hard work and dedication that she has exhibited this year and we are excited to see how she continues to grow in the seasons to come.

Coach’s Award - Jaiden Patterson

This next award is our Coach’s Award. This year we have been shown great leadership by many members of the team; however, this award goes to a girl on our team that has exemplified qualities of leadership, passion, and responsibility. Jaiden Patterson has always been extremely dedicated and never hesitates to help her teammates or coaches when needed. During her time as a Titanette, we have watched her grow not only as a dancer, but as a caring and positive young lady. Her positive attitude and contributions to our team are why we would like to award her with the Coach’s Award.

Titan of the Year Award - Sophia Mazza

Our Titan(ette) of the Year Award goes to one of the most dedicated members of our team, Sophia Mazza. We have had the pleasure to coach Sophia for three years and have seen her impeccable leadership as a student and as an athlete from the moment she became a Titanette. Even through many injuries (I would say at least one per year), Sophia has shown her dedication and support to her team through it all. Her passion for dance and unwavering commitment to this team has inspired not only us as her coaches but her teammates she has had along the way. She will be greatly missed next year as a Titanette.

MVP- Jordan Ocampo- this swimmer has shown excellence since his first practice. He is a hard worker and driven to become better. Jordan also received the league’s Vin Harkins MVP Award for Holy Trinity. The coaches are so proud of his accomplishments and look forward to 3 more seasons of great swimming!

Coaches Award- Leo Cronan and Jayden Kennedy - these swimmers always showed up to practice and meets ready to work and full of team spirit. They both worked so hard this season and ended at B champs swimming their own personal records! The coaches are excited and looking forward to welcoming them back next season. Well done, boys!
