Rev. Patrick S.L. Flanagan, C.M., a native of Wantagh, NY, is a proud Class of 1983 graduate. Father Flanagan then went to Niagara University, earning a B.S. in Biology Education. Following his time in Western New York, he pursued religious life with the Congregation of Mission (the Vincentian Fathers & Brothers) as a seminarian at Mary Immaculate Seminary (Northampton, PA) and the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception (Lloyd Harbor, NY). After his ordination to the priesthood in 1992, Father Flanagan served as Parochial Vicar at Immaculate Conception in Philadelphia and taught science at Merion Mercy Academy. In 1994, Father Flanagan returned to his alma mater and served as a campus minister at Niagara. After four years, Father Flanagan moved to Chicago, where he lived with his confreres at DePaul University while obtaining his doctorate in theological ethics at Loyola University. Upon completion of five years in the Windy City, Father Flanagan returned home to New York to live and work at St. John’s University, where he presently serves as a Tenured Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Theology and Religious Studies. Since 2013, Father Flanagan has proudly served Trinity on its Board of Advisors, with five years (2018-2023) as its Chair.
