A Special Time, Place and Spirit
"The two essential part of my coaching philosophy that I would like my players to always know is that you can only control your attitude and your effort. There are so many aspects of the game of softball that we cannot control, and at any given time, someone out there can beat you. If you put in 110% effort every day and maintain a focused and positive attitude, you will set yourself up for success."
"In my personal experience, one moment that has helped shape my philosophy occurred while playing at Molloy when we lost to #1 ranked Dowling College during the regular season. Our team was winning until the last play of the game where I gave up a walk-off 2 run home run. I was very frustrated and disappointed with my performance, questioning why I gave up the winning hit. However, this moment forced me to work harder and say to myself, 'I won’t let that girl beat me next time.' We wound up beating this same team next time in the conference championship game. I take this mentality into coaching because I want my players to know that moments like this happen for a reason to make them stronger."
"Being a Titan helped me learn discipline and responsibility. We worked hard every practice, prayed before every game, and most importantly supported and learned from each other."
"My best moment as an HT coach was (although it was a short week of softball) stepping onto our field outside for the first time with a new group of dedicated coaches and players. My best moment as an HT athlete was winning the 2007 CHSAA championship."
"I would advise young student-athletes to open themselves up to as many new athletic experiences as possible. Attend clinics, watch older teams play, study video/games on YouTube. Be open to new skills that may seem different, and never stop pushing to be better than you were yesterday."
